Problem
Problem
The customer first contacted Ana Kurye after Istanbul Airport authorities confirmed that a small black leather file containing personal documents had been found. Because the customer could not visit the Lost & Found Office personally, an authorized representative was required to complete the collection.
For international travellers, seafarers and business visitors, this can quickly become complicated. Finding the item is only the beginning; airport offices may also require authorization forms, identity confirmation and supporting documents before releasing lost property to another person.
There was another timing challenge. The customer was connected with a vessel and needed the documents delivered to Mersin, Turkey, rather than simply held in Istanbul. The operation had to connect airport lost property collection with onward domestic document delivery.
Operation note
This case is anonymized. Address, person, hotel, institution or customer-identifying details are not shared without explicit permission. The purpose is to show what checks are needed in similar requests.
In similar operations, accuracy matters as much as speed. A wrong handover point, missing phone number, unclear recipient detail or carrier restriction can stop the operation. That is why Ana Kurye first runs a short suitability check and gives the customer a clear next step.
This approach is especially valuable for customers abroad. Even when the customer is not physically in Turkey, they can follow pickup, confirmation, local courier movement and shipping preparation through one communication channel.
Solution
Solution
Ana Kurye started by helping the customer understand the authorization process. The customer completed the required Power of Attorney / authorization and consent forms, and our team communicated directly with Istanbul Airport Lost & Found to check whether the documents were accepted.
During the process, the airport requested additional identification documents. Instead of leaving the customer to manage this alone from a distance, Ana Kurye followed up with the Lost & Found Office, explained what was missing and helped coordinate the corrected documentation.
Once the documents and authorization were confirmed, a collection appointment was arranged for the following morning. This is the critical part of an Istanbul Airport lost property courier service: the courier can only collect after the release procedure is complete.
Operation Process
Operation Process
The first stage was document and authorization review. The customer shared the information provided by Istanbul Airport Lost & Found, and Ana Kurye checked which steps were still needed before collection.
The second stage was airport coordination. Our team stayed in contact with the Lost & Found Office, clarified the missing documents and confirmed when the leather file could be released to an authorized representative.
The third stage was the airport pickup. The courier arrived at Istanbul Airport for the scheduled collection. There was a wait while the Lost & Found team prepared the item, but the small leather document file was successfully handed over.
The fourth stage was onward delivery planning. The customer wanted the documents sent to Mersin and addressed according to the vessel-related delivery instruction. Ana Kurye prepared the package and arranged DHL document delivery from Istanbul to Mersin.
One unexpected issue was payment. The customer's international payment failed twice even though the customer was actively communicating with the bank. Because the documents were urgent and the customer was leaving Turkey within a few days, Ana Kurye continued the shipment while the payment issue was being resolved.
Result
Result
The lost documents were collected from Istanbul Airport Lost & Found and shipped by DHL to Mersin according to the customer's instruction. In this case there was no airport storage fee at collection, although storage fees can depend on the airport office and the item.
The customer later left a verified five-star Google review and specifically mentioned the clear communication, helpful approach and the fact that the shipment continued despite payment trouble. This is exactly the kind of practical support international travellers need when they cannot return to the airport personally.
Ana Kurye is an independent courier and coordination service. It is not Istanbul Airport, iGA, an airline, DHL or any official Lost & Found authority. Release procedures, storage fees, carrier rules and delivery timing always depend on the responsible office and selected carrier.
