From Istanbul Airport to Moscow: How Ana Kurye Recovered a Mother's Lost Bag

A handbag containing a child's everyday belongings can matter much more than its size suggests. In October 2026, we helped a mother in Russia recover a bag that had been found at Istanbul Airport. Our part involved communicating with her in Russian, coordinating the airport paperwork, collecting the handbag and preparing a parcel for CDEK shipping to the Moscow region.

A Lost Handbag Containing Children's Belongings

Kristina described four children's bottles, a tracking bracelet, a small pendant and several toys inside the handbag. These were personal family belongings, rather than a replaceable travel accessory. For us, understanding what the bag held helped explain why getting it back mattered to her.

The bag had already been found and was held by IGA Istanbul Airport Lost & Found. That was an important starting point: our task was to help arrange authorized collection and onward shipping. We were not conducting the airport's search or deciding who could receive the property.

A Message from Russia

Kristina first contacted us on 5 October 2026. She wanted to know which shipping company could carry the belongings to Russia, whether delivery was possible to her address outside central Moscow and how the payment process would work. We communicated with her in Russian while reviewing the practical arrangements.

Being in another country meant she could not simply visit the Lost & Found desk herself. She needed someone in Istanbul to coordinate the local steps and explain what would happen next. We kept the conversation focused on the actual collection requirements and the available shipping arrangement, without promising that paperwork or transport acceptance would be automatic.

Preparing the IGA Lost & Found Documents

IGA Lost & Found supplied the authorization instructions and forms. Kristina completed and signed the required documents and sent the scans, together with the requested passport copy, to the responsible airport office. The airport controlled the release process; we helped coordinate it.

The instructions referred to sending documents in advance, and collection was approaching. Rather than treating the signed forms alone as confirmation that the bag could be released, we contacted the airport to check the paperwork and collection situation. Finding an item and authorizing its handover are separate steps, particularly when its owner is abroad.

Collecting the Handbag at Istanbul Airport

We collected the handbag from IGA Istanbul Airport Lost & Found on 9 October. Kristina received confirmation that the recovered belongings were present. The photograph at the airport shows the handbag after collection, providing a record of this stage of the case.

For the family, collection brought the belongings one step closer to home. For our team, there was still work to do. Airport release did not mean the bag was already packed or that every reported item had been accepted for international carriage. We needed to review the contents and prepare the shipment.

Washing the Baby Bottles and Carefully Repacking the Bag

The children's bottles needed attention after collection. We cleaned them and took additional care during preparation because some food-related contents had deteriorated. This was a practical part of handling the recovered bag, not simply placing it inside another box.

We then repacked the belongings for transport. The parcel's dimensions and shipping cost were discussed with Kristina before dispatch. Careful preparation mattered both for the belongings and for arranging a suitable shipment. This account does not establish that every item originally reported inside the handbag was shipped, or that the tracking bracelet was accepted by the carrier.

Arranging CDEK Shipping to Moscow

For this case, we arranged CDEK shipping to Kristina's address in Moscow Oblast. The parcel was handed to CDEK on 9 October, the same date as the airport collection. Ana Kurye handled collection and shipment preparation in Istanbul; CDEK was the international carrier.

This route was selected for the particular shipment. It should not be read as a promise that CDEK is the only option for Russia, or that every item can be carried on the same terms. Contents and destination must be assessed for each case. We are not publishing a final delivery date because the exact day has not been established.

A Customer Review That Made Our Day

Kristina later left a public Google review confirming home delivery. She thanked us for careful packing and specifically mentioned that we had washed the children's bottles. It was a reminder that the small, practical details of a recovery can be the ones a customer remembers most.

Her message brought the story beyond the handover at the airport or the dispatch of a parcel. The belongings had reached her home, and she said she would recommend our service. The English translation of her original Russian review is reproduced below, with a link to the original.

English translation of Kristina’s original Russian Google review:

I'm so happy that such a conscientious company exists to handle situations like this. Thank you so much for delivering my bag with children's belongings to Moscow. Everything was carefully packed, and you even washed the baby bottles. Thank you very much! I will recommend you. CDEK delivered the package directly to my home.

Need Help Recovering Lost Property from Istanbul Airport?

If your item has been found, send us the case reference, a description of the property, the office holding it and your destination country. We can review local collection and onward shipping options. The holding office must confirm its own authorization requirements before a representative collects anything.

Ana Kurye is an independent courier and lost-property collection service, not the official IGA Lost & Found office or CDEK. Airport release, carrier acceptance and customs requirements remain with the responsible organizations. Each recovery needs its own checks, even when a previous family's experience looks similar.
